Olecol® is a natural ingredient derived from olive leaf that offers a safe and multi-target approach to blood lipid management, the key to longevity. Olecol® has been clinically proven to decrease bad cholesterol (LDL), triglycerides (TG),  and TG/HDL-c ratio.

Olecol®

Olecol® is a patent-protected extract, derived from freshly pruned Spanish olive leaves of the Manzanilla variety. It is standardized for >32% oleuropein and clinically validated for blood lipid management, the key to longevity.

Olecol® has been investigated in clinical studies for blood lipids management. The results confirm a significant decrease in total cholesterol, LDL-cholesterol and triglycerides at a daily dose of 250 mg.

Triple action on blood lipid control

Blood Lipid Control

Clinically proven

The benefits of Olecol® have been assessed in three clinical studies, which have demonstrated the dual action of the ingredient: improved blood lipid control in both subjects with hypercholesterolemia and overweight plus strong antioxidant properties.

Blood Lipid Control

A 12-month randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was designed to investigate the effects of a daily dose of 250 mg Olecol® on subjects with elevated cholesterol levels. Olecol® showed a significant effect on blood lipid levels after the 12-month intervention. The levels of LDL cholesterol, total cholesterol and triglycerides were significantly decreased in the Olecol® group compared to the placebo group. Furthermore, a significant difference in the total cholesterol/HDL ratio between the Olecol® group and the placebo group was seen.

A second study was carried out to investigate triglycerides (TG) and TG/HDL-c ratio profiles in mid-aged individuals. The 12-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study with a daily dose of 250 mg Olecol® showed a significantly improved TG/HDL-c ratio in the group receiving Olecol® treatment compared to the placebo group. In addition, triglyceride levels tended to decrease after 12-week supplementation.

Mode of action

The mode of action of Olecol® is twofold.

(1). Increased cholesterol excretion. Oleuropein stimulates cholesterol secretion into the bile, which is subsequently discharged into the duodenum and excreted through the feces.

(2). Decreased cholesterol production. Oleuropein may modulate genes involved in the endogenous cholesterol production process.
